My, oh my, that was a SPICY book.
My friend, as she handed me this book for my birthday, said, “This is the spiciest book I have ever read.” And I know it was going to be spicy, considering her past reads. If she thought it was spicy, even for her, I was in for a long haul. But I really did not expect this one.
I realized, while reading this book, I really need to start reading the backs of books more carefully before reading them, ha! I didn’t even realize the surprise pregnancy until it was mentioned in the book plot, though it was definitely not in the fine print on the back of the book. How did I miss that?!
I truly thought from some little hints in the beginning of the story that Poppy, our FMC, was going to choose Lukas, one of the two MMCs; that the bad boy was endgame. Turns out, she got both! She won the bad boy and the nice guy, that’s a first I have seen in a book! Mind you, these stories are not ones that I read at all, and I didn’t expect the number of polygamous relationships in this book, but it was interesting to learn more about that relationship identity/style (assuming it’s life accurate).
It was a good read, lots of drama, of course, there was a lot of hockey, which I enjoyed reading about, as most of my recent hockey reads only cover a bit of hockey, but it was a good book.
Not really my thing going forward, but I think it’s really important to read things you may not first pick up. As an avid reader, I am open to reading really anything. I have my tastes and distastes, but appreciating the art of literature is so critical to me, regardless of the genre or style of writing.
