I was so excited to read this book and see how the lives of our favorite couples changed after college at Briar University. But Kennedy did them so dirty, the characters were written so differently from how we knew them in their standalone stories and I felt so disconnected, like I didn’t know them at all.
There was so much drama, where was the domesticity and warmth in their relationships? Why was it only unwanted and unnecessary drama? And the boys were acting like teenagers, as if none of them had not been in their relationships for years; it just made my eyes roll, I was so disappointed, I figured they all knew their relationships better.
Don’t get me wrong, a miscommunication trope can be written well, but I was so angry by the lack of communication and secrets. Why were the women so difficult not telling their men about the things going on in their lives? My husband is my best friend and if I had a secret that affected our relationship going forward in ANY way, he would be the FIRST to know, not the last.
And on another note, the ending was terrible. I was so excited to see what would happen to Garrett and Hannah and see how the story wraps up the other characters, but the story ended in a really bad cliffhanger. But it didn’t feel like a cliffhanger that makes you want to read the next book. It was a dead stop of the series, as if the author gave up and published the draft. I was so bummed about this book, don’t get me wrong, the story kept me hooked, especially just wanting to learn more about the characters in each part, I finished the book in a few hours but I’m so sad about it! We didn’t get closure at all! Are there more books, am I missing out on some information?
