The Deal (Elle Kennedy)

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Another hockey romance, thank you HR for inspiring me to read more from the hockey romance genre!

I LOVED this book. I feel like I say that about every book I review, but this is in the top 5, I think.

Hannah Wells, an all around A student at Briar University, studying music with hopes of one day becoming a songwriter and composer, is approached by cocky, popular star hockey player, Garrett Graham, for tutoring services. She declines at first, but Garrett makes a deal with her: he’ll help her get the guy of her dreams, by pretending to date her to make her crush jealous if it means she’ll help him pass his philosophy and moral ethics course. This fake-dating arrangement was such a fun one to read, especially when they unintentionally fell for each other😉🤭🤩

This college hockey romance was such a great read, I really hadn’t planned to read the entire book in one night, but it happens🤷‍♀️

I really appreciate the change readers can see done by Garrett and Hannah in this story. Not just for each other, but for themselves. This is another great example of how love can change you for the better, and that warms my heart🩷

**Note: this book may be triggering to some due to mentions of past s*xual assault, but I think Kennedy did a great job at emphasizing the importance of getting help and not letting the past define you. For much of the story, Hannah felt like that part of her past defined her, convinced she would be broken for the rest of her life, but Garrett helped her change how she thought of herself, and I really loved that about their relationship.

A REALLY great read, I’m almost tempted to reread it, but I did just buy the rest of the series, so maybe I should continue forward and come back when I’m done?
